Gaelic Activities Club
The school's Gaelic Activities Club has been running successfully for the past year. Uptake by pupils is consistently high and feedback from parents is very positive.

Owing to family circumstances Katherine Maciver has had to relinquish her post and the Club is now being run by Marina Macrae, Joan Walker and Joan Anderson. The Club is available to pupils in both the Gaelic and English streams, P1-P4, Monday to Friday 3.00pm to 5.00pm. This facility provides children with an opportunity to use Gaelic in an informal setting as well as assisting them with some of their homework.

A Curriculum for Excellence
Issued with this newsletter is a guide to the Curriculum for Excellence (one copy per family) produced by the Education Department of CNES. Additional information on a Curriculum for Excellence can be found on websites such as www.curriculumforexcellencescotland.gov.uk

Setting
Setting in English and Maths in the Primary and in English, Maths, HE, Technical, PE and Music in the Secondary aims to match pupils' pace of learning with prior attainment. This system has now been in place for two sessions and is working very well. Having a smaller range of abilities in each group allows staff to meet the needs of individuals more effectively. In addition it encourages more whole-class, interactive teaching which has been proven to be beneficial to pupils in that it allows a more focussed and challenging pace of learning.

Curricular Files
The school is currently producing a set of Curricular Files. These are designed to provide user-friendly guidelines for staff and parents. The use of the files will ensure that staff follow standardised procedures and that progression and continuity for pupils in curricular areas are more rigoursly applied. Parents wishing to view the files, can do so by visiting the school.

PE in the Primary
All primary pupils now receive two hours of physical education per week as recommended by national guidelines. This is delivered partly by itinerant specialists and partly by class teachers.

Personal Health and Social Education [PHSE]
The school's Personal Health and Social Education programme of study has been revised is available on this page. Parents are encouraged to study the programme and discuss any observation they may wish to make with teaching staff.
