Secondary Gaelic Department
Ma tha i agad, bruidhinn i! That is our motto at Sgoil a’ Bhac. S1 and S2 pupils in Sgoil a’ Bhac follow a general course which is based on Seadh! (fluent speakers) and Abair Fhèin E! (learners). Our aim is to develop pupils’ confidence in the four language modes – Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
Staff and pupils are encouraged to use Gaelic in all formal and informal situations whenever possible. We promote participation in a wide range of extra-curricular activities which involve Gaelic e.g. local and national Mods, competitions, radio and TV broadcasts and community events. The school has recently produced a DVD, Ceòl na h-Alba, which gives examples of all types of Scottish music and provides a Gaelic and English commentary. The DVD has been designed for use in the national music curriculum (copies available from sgoilabhac@fnes.net).
